Whether you're working through the summer or just spending your days relaxing, a good summer soundtrack is crucial. The feel-good bubblegum pop of groups like The Beach Boys might have dominated your parents' summer days, but where does that leave the modern rock connoisseur?

Fear not, friends. The following playlist will ensure that your summer rocks as hard as you do.

1. "Doin' Time"

by Sublime (1997)

The title speaks for itself.

Sublime's down-tempo reggae-rock is the perfect companion for when you're cruising down the block, looking for a good time.

"Summertime/and the livin's easy" - it most certainly is, Brad Nowell.

2. "School's Out"

by Alice Cooper (1972)

A classic summer joint.

According to Cooper himself, the song was inspired by the feeling you get at the end of the last class of the semester. Alice, just because we must let you know - we aren't worthy.

3. "Island In The Sun"

by Weezer (2001)

"On an island in the sun/we'll be playin' and havin' fun" - sounds like summer.
