CMU drops fifth straight MAC game

Kate Fissel recorded a career-high 28 kills Saturday in the volleyball team's five-game loss to Miami in Oxford, Ohio.
Fissel finished with 11 digs, four blocks and a .311 hitting percentage.
The loss was the fifth straight for the Chippewas, who are 13-8 overall and 3-5 in the Mid-American Conference. Central also lost 3-1 Friday at Bowling Green State University.
Sophomore Alexis Lonneman had a career-high 36 digs against Miami.
CMU won the second and fourth games, but came up short in the fifth, 16-14. The Chippewas now are 0-3 in five-game matches.
Friday, the Falcons came out on top in four games to give Central its fourth MAC loss. The Chippewas were held to a .065 hitting percentage and were out-blocked 16-6 by Bowling Green.
Fissel led the Chippewas with 16 kills and junior middle blocker Whitney Evers had 12 kills.
Senior Courtney Kersten had 31 assists, while freshman Same Otte had a team-high .571 hitting percentage.
The Chippewas travel Tuesday to Rochester to face Oakland University before welcoming Akron on Friday and Buffalo on Saturday to Rose Arena.
